Emergent Technology: Scrapblog

I explored Scrapblogging for my final emergent technology. The site that I used was called scrapblog.com. This site could be used for a variety of reasons but I feel like it is mostly for fun and recreation. Scrap blogging is a perfect opportunity to send family and friends the latest photos of what is going on your life. I could also see this technology being useful in a computer classroom for students to explore new facets of our ever changing technological world. That would be very similar to what we have been asked to do.
This site in particular was very user friendly and was a lot of fun to explore. Students in middle school would really enjoy this technology because of its ease.

Emerging Technology Gabcast

I chose to select Gabcast as my emerging technology. The site gabcast.com allows for anyone to record a message or have a conference call for others to listen in on. This site seems like it would be very helpful in a business setting and also in an educational setting. The first think way in which it could be used in an educational setting would be for teachers who are going to be absent. Gabcast would be a good way for a teacher to communicate with their students or even with a substitute teacher in order to more effectively instruct.
I had very little trouble whatsoever in setting up the Gabcast. Previously I not given this type of technology much thought before. I can see how it would be very beneficial in many instances.
The only hang up that I ran across was in the activation process. Gabcast was really slow in sending me an email to activate my account. It took over an hour to get my account activated. i am not sure why this happened. I suppose that it could have been a fluke..who knows!
